What's the usual sharing setting for Seton's these days?

Postby stalewee » 27 Apr 2016, 00:59

I haven't played for a while.

Seton's games used to be "full share" but all the games I've played in the last few days have been "share until death".

I've seen mostly full share, but there is always one guy that complains about it.

A few nights ago I had a guy beetle snipe one of my teammates, discover full share was on, then just CTRL-K in protest himself.

I think it's more interesting that half the time you snipe someone delivering a second fully functional economy to the back player just makes the game even harder to win.

Anything else than Full Share isn't a real Setons game. The majority of games would be over immediately after an ACU is sniped if that option isn't used due to the effect on navy / air battles.

Even with full share it's common that after an ACU dies his position will be lost due to the interruption of unit production / micro.

You have to weight in rating differences etc when deciding if you should snipe someone and risk donation of his economy / units to a more competent player.

I think at the lower rankings/all welcome you'll tend to find quite a few share until death games but beyond 1000 rating you won't find anything other than full share.

Full share is the name of the game, unless it's low level setons.

Sniping is still valuable (assuming equal skill in every position) because you are draining the attention and APM resources of the enemy team. It also tends to be a physiological victory. Provided you keep up the momentum this can often lead to a win.

Just remember that you haven't scored an economic victory. So don't expect it to be a walk in the park from then on. You've killed an ACU - and if this required a huge loss of your own units, or gifted an eco to a better player, then this is what is called "un-success". Before choosing to snipe, first evaluate whether this will help you win the game. If not kill something else instead. Like his army, or his eco. In a 4v4 you want to be thinking more about economic victories, and winning the battle, not sniping ACU's.
