Plea for assistance to Sheeo

Hey all, especially visionik,

I can't recall exactly when the server was transferred over and how many pieces of it are being worked on currently due to "bugs," but the list has gotten quite extensive. It appears that Sheeo is a little overwhelmed as he is the only person working on the server these days (correct me if I'm wrong). It also appears that his time is much more limited than what we all hoped for when this would happen (correct me again if I'm wrong).

Visionik & Sheeo, how much would it cost to hire a professional to help organize and alleviate many of the issues being seen? I think any and all donations should go to that rather tournaments or random filings forward. For this to happen, we need to know an honest figure. It's cool to give Sheeo beer money and all, but it's at the point now where I've seen less people playing than ever before.

This is a long shot, and since many of us don't have the talent to fix these issues, but what would it cost for us to work on this? If it's within reason maybe we can help FAF out this way.

Let me know what you think, and I'm wrong and there are other things at hand please explain. Maybe it's for other reasons, but I can barely get any ladder nor team games these days whether it's the week or weekend...

I always welcome additional contributors I would prefer we try and organize a hackathon / programming event and gather additional contributors over paying a single person to fix bugs.

I'm only overwhelmed as of recently since I've started a new full time job -- I'll get into a rhythm and find a balance between this and that before too long.


If you are barely getting any ladder matches at all that doesn't sound like it would be correlated with this, however. Is this the case or are you just getting slightly fewer matches? If you want I can pull some stats on this.

Hackathons are quite good in getting more involvement, but usually it results in shitty code. I liked softly's approach of faf coding lessons, if you sheeo, did that. I think we could get more people involved, or at least exposure to our development stack.

Unban everyone, remove moderators, mb that will help Oh and revert all balance changes and bug fixes whenever they cause game breaking bugs immediately (t2 gunships, drones, nuke immunity transport, invisible sera destros..).
Oh or even better, can keep moderators but put them into non adult channel, when new people join FAF they can choose if they want to chat in "secure moderated chat" or not.

I'm happy that you guys want to have an event to crack down on bugs and all, but could I get an answer to my question about getting a pro to help out? It doesn't need to be addressed as if it is happening, but just a rough estimate would be nice.
