How well would my pc play supcom?

Postby Plasma_Wolf » 02 Apr 2016, 22:19

I haven't played since quite a while and I've sometimes gotten the urge to zoom out/zoom in, move across the map while watching a GyleCast

While we're on the subject of not playing (at the moment I'm sort of the opposite of you guys and that has to change). I'm studying abroad now, for a total of three years and I didn't bring my desktop.

My laptop has a 2.2 GHz i5 processor, 6 GB RAM and a graphics chipset of which I don't know the name, but I'm rather confident that it'll do.

Main question: how well will the cpu go with 1v1 games? And if the answer is "well", how well will it go with the standard sort of 2v2 games?

Yes, I haven't been involved in computer things for so long that I again have to ask how well my laptop will run SupCom, the game I have played more than any other :ugeek:

Should be okay for 1v1s and smaller teamgames I would imagine. It will really come down to the lack of graphics card I imagine, but you can still get your FA fix with a lil lappy like that I'm sure.

I used to play with an HP craptop on a first gen i5 with integrated graphics. You won't be playing setons, but you should be fine for 10k 3v3 or smaller. The only worry will be that, if you are on integrated graphics, you will only be able to play on super low settings unless you want MAJOR fps drops. With the 10k 3v3 you may see a couple hits on -1 sim speed if there are a ton of units, but overall you should be ok.

Ok, thanks for the info. I think I'll give it a go with FA being only a tenner on steam (I have to install it again and I don't have the disc with me, besides the laptop doesn't have a disk drive...)

As for graphics I don't think I'm worried about things looking bad too much. 90% of the time it's zoomed out anyway. Weirdly the most important thing is the bloom lighting for me because the black Aeon shields look very bad...

It's difficult to say as the game code has undergone a huge overhaul this past year. Even with a beefy i5-4690K @4GHz, 2xGTX 770s and 17 gigs RAM I have seen perf drop randomly from game-to-game, situation-to-situation.

The best thing you can do is test it out and don't push it too much so you don't cause desyncs and disconnections during team games.

I suggested a "stress test" be implemented into the game but god knows if that will ever take.

I think you're asking how well it will play SupCom because you know it won't and are looking for some sort of permission.

You know it's only good for small maps and 2v2 at most.

2 8 gig sticks and a single 1 gig stick but this will screw up your dual channel functioning.
