Is there a server problem currently?

I haven't played FA for a long time and I thought I'd get back on and have a go. It seemed to be working ok the other day, but I couldn't remember my password and the reset email wasn't working so I couldn't log in.

I found my password and tried again a couple of days back and I got an error (before having a chance to log in) saying the server was under maintenance and to try again later. I tried again today and got the same error. I've uninstalled FAF and reinstalled it and still get the same error.

we are doing a server switch since a few days.
gonna last for some days..
there can be some issue, with no connection available to server when we are pushing a patch... But you can play (less feature available atm) for most of the time.

With the old version the "server under maintenance" message may turn up while the (new) server is not down. Make sure to download and run the latest installer from http://www.faforever.com/downloads

The laptop I'm using currently doesn't have FA installed, could that be the reason?
