Instant veterancy boost

Postby Pathogenic » 11 Dec 2015, 07:24

So here is a relatively common situation. In walks a monkeylord, killing all units in sight. It almost is dead, and then it kills one more pgen. Suddenly it gets of huge boost in HP and is allowed to continue on its rampage. Players will control-k their units which could potentially damage the experimental rather than risk feeding it veterency, which seems more than a bit silly to me.

Why not have it so that when a unit gains veterency, it gains the ability to have increased hp, but does not instantly gain any hp? Leave it alone for long enough and it will self repair up to its max hp, but not instantly gain any points when it increases veterency? I know it would be a big change, but I don't really like the way it is currently with the instant gain of HP upon vet increase.

Known problem, wrong forum.

What I don't understand is that we are not unanimous about the vet problem, how some people think it's reasonable a Monkeylord comes out with double its original hp against (literally) 100 t2 tanks when it runs right in middle of them.

i will against use my formula for good suggestion:
play equilibrium, there its fixed.

how its fixed:
- units dont get insta heal,( so no more ML that with vet take 22500 magical heal, or mega that will heal from 1000hp? for 56000hp)
- units take experience depend on how much target cost mass, for next vet level need 150% own mass cost
- units share experience depend on how much % of dmg take to target, when take 10% then take 10% from xp that privide that target (no more 50xp for kiling exp for T2 tanks with last shot and 0 for others)
- units with vet* provide 20%more experience
- units get new max hp - acu, t1/t2 20% t3 15% T4 10%
- new regeneration patern where tanks style units have exponencional rise of regeneration, and raides style have linear rise

Definitly not, acu have natural regeneration, that is not slow, and more max hp make acu more efective later, as is with some insta heal cancer that caunt only on early game, and is ussles later.

First vets are hardly noticable imho, but 3rd 4th and 5th vet when happen are extremely epic.

I remember intentionally letting me enemies damage my exps so i squeeze little bit more efficiency out of vets.
Also if you pay attansion to vet you can use it as a surprise factor.
I would definately agree with replacing all vet hp boosts with max hp and regen boosts, also repair buff and cybran acu regen nerf :(

Edit: only kind of vet that would make sence is acually when pilot after having good practice in fight now can aim better or avoid enemy fire better... Regen still does not make much sence just like hp boost, or max health boost...

I like the mechanic. especially on ACU's but I absolutely agree there are some cases where it is way too much and I'm not against what the OP suggested at all.

Its a mechanic that does not fit into the real world at all but its pretty big in terms of gameplay, as you said. I dislike the instant hp boost. However I would not be adverse to, say turnspeed boosts, keeping the regen boosts and turret turnspeed boosts. Possibly damage boosts too.

Boosts like this would keep rewarding micro with veterancys while allowing the vet to give an even greater ability to micro, and solve that hp boost problem.

2. This is the wrong subforum.
3. This issue has at lesat 20 topics on it.

Check the balance forum and look at some past discussion there. If you have something that hasn't been discussed that you want to bring up make a thread there. :D

My apologies, I had no idea it was the wrong forum. I don't come here very often, so I haven't seen the 20 or so other topics talking about it.
