Map size inaccuracies

i just realized battle ships can engage at 90km, so shouldn't say setons be 400 square km instead of 40 etc? otherwise they should be able to shoot the air player from port

I don't know where you got 90km from, in the database it has summit range as 0-150 (I don't know the units in km).

If you are talking about real life, well, Supcom is not real life, or almost everything would be completely different, especially accounting for future tech.

Yep, instant mass and energy transmission on possibly infinite distance (or at least 1000+ km) is pretty sick.

Setons is 400 sq km but I get what you mean. And units in a game cant really match real life let alone what real life will be 1000 years from now.

Of course not, but why would range on battle ships decrease? If anything they would increase. Same with all units. But if we make the maps "bigger" it makes a lot more sense

So then you increase the map size to accommodate the bigger ranges and then what? Either you end up with something that will take to long for anything to happen in real time or it will be a bit to unrealistic in other areas like speed of units. And either way may be too much to keep track of and/or much of the space will be unused because of the shear size of the map.

Besides, if you go for realism arguments then battleships probably wouldn't even be used, it would be all carriers destroyers frigates and cruisers. :P

Battleships have been obsolete for a long while indeed, but so are cruisers. They are almost entirely out of use today, only 2 navies still have them.

Many experts fear that carriers might also become obsolete soon as there is probably no way to protect them from ballistic anti-ship missiles and hypersonic missiles.
