SCFA Where have you been all my life....(introduction thread

Postby Nosaj » 27 Jun 2015, 08:18

Hello players of FAF. My name is Nosaj, and I am in love with SC, I have always had my eye on it but never had time to taste the cake so to speak. Finally droped some change on it, and kicking myself for all that time wasted trying to learn sc2 or get a community going for DoW 1/2

So here I am, highly competitive, ambitious, and ready to get my hands dirty on the ladder. See you around.

PS; as for learning and growing as a serious RTS gamer new to SCFAF, I am wondering if any old heads are willing to mentor me up, if you have Skype, like to help capable noobs learn, and want a sparring buddy, send me a message.

Other than that are you on the field.

Welcome to Forged Alliance Forever! I love this game to death and the only game left still standing and played on a daily basis after so many different games. Supreme Commander was what got me into PC gaming in the first place way back when i was just 13 years old (21 now). This is the only game that has stood the test of time for me and i hope to play it till the day i seriously die. I Hope this game means even remotely close to you as it does to me (even though im still an average joe after all these years).

Thank you all for the amazing resources, been loving the wiki and devotion behind this community. I am utterly terrible at this game right now, and even still the matches with folks I have played in have been very helpful and understanding. I am at work now, when I get home I will look through that, and surely check out your YouTube BRNK.

I hope you aren't discouraged by losing streaks or snipes but don't give up! This game is hard. REALLY hard. And that is all part of the challenge. Ive logged over 1500 games and im still an average joe.

Learning game is actually most fun thing that there is...
after you learn alot of things you also will have to learn how to use them tho :)

after that you will probably start looking at each game as if it would be some kind of dance or ritual of balance between power and mass, production-tech and eco, defence and offence, balance between each faction with occasional tech skips and air switches, balance between risk and effectivness of upgraided commander in combat and safe play or even eco play with RAS...
at some point some one will abandon balance and go for all in attack, or full t1 / t2 / t3 /t4 spam with no alternative plan or go for snipe
being able to do that can helps alot in game, but players that keep playing normally and keep developing eco and infrostructure and keep scouting will always have small advantage...

I guess i just dumped some of my random thoughts into this post...
also want to let you know that when i started playing ladder on gpg-net long time ago, i lost at least 10 ladder games in a row... then i learned that i need to make units to survive... :D then i started to learn more and more things slowly, and getting better.
(you can always watch some one else play and steal their build order or steal their tactic/strategy, as soon as you will able to execute them you may start understand them and start developing your own strategies)

Anyway good luck in games :D

Well, if you are as promising as you say, you can come to me after you grow some points (~1400-1500, thats where the real shit starts to happen).
Can give some decent mentoring and help learn the game faster.
