-Fields of Thunder

this was my first map i created. And i don't endorse it. The map is too open for commander base rush scenarios and generally not a good map imo.

-Moonshine
-Moonlight-
-Moonshine Mesas

They all play pretty much the same way, Moonlight has anyoing fog that gives me a headache. Can we swap 1 or 2 of those for more other maps? Firelight servers into the same category, a bit.

-Open Waters

I know ppl used to complain about Finns Revenge and Aeon. This is even more annoying. Clearly favours Aeon in a huge way, being able to deny pretty much any sort of expansion with air and a few auroras. We have Roanoke as big water map, can we get rid Open waters?

I initially thought the same about open waters, but I think it's actually ok - you can get a frigate out fast to defend the seas. Drops work much better for taking the sides as well.

Here's a great replay showing this: http://fa-ladder.com/index.php?link=41&skin=1

You just need two auroras and a bit of air to deny any engi expand on the islands for a major deal of the time. Then not to talk about the whole "things that are on the island stay on the island" for every other faction. Its not about the main base harass, but the expansion denying that makes me think the map is aeon favoured.

We had sort of the same thing with Haves Reef

That map also favoured Aeon harass, and the only thing that made it somewhat balanced was the whole path through the middle where you could execute a pretty devestating push when your opponent was overly committing to the islands.

You still can beat Aeon on the map, but if hes doing it right you will be on the backfoot very very quickly.

I don't know what map this is, but I'd like to draw people's attention to this game, where the lake I hid my fatboy in allowed me to shoot all guns at the enemy fatboy without it being able to target me. It seemed a little unfair, but I did what any smart player should have done. I'll leave it up to the admins whether to remove the map or not, I just wanted to put this out there.

The right side starting position on Fields of thunder has a problem:

Hmm. I thought you were just making crap up about this. However, I tested it, and you're right, he was unable to shoot your fatboy even though he should have been able to. So, I fixed it: I added the elements on the roof of the fatboy (Air staging facility, AA guns) to the list of targetable components. In this way, if even a single AA gun or other piece of the fatboy is above the water level, it can be shot at.

It's not a problem with loki, so I imagine this map will remain in the pool.

I just found out that Aeon torpedo planes don't work on Open Waters. Water is not deep enough, they turn into flying sonar scouts. Around 13.30 - 15.30 in game torp bombers show their uselesness.

I don't even need to check that replay... yes the water on open waters is VERY shallow. The experimental subs (tempest, atlantis) cannot even submerge, aoen and seraphim torp bombers don't work, and you can ground fire nearly every single sub with nearly any weapon.

Yes, after ruling the early game with their extremely superior Navy and Land Units, their ridiculously accurate bombers, and after Raping T2 air with their swift winds and hovering Flak and Shields, Aeon totally can't be let down by a single broken unit before they melt your units into slag with a swarm of galactic colossi that can fire at everything easily with their heads poking out from the water.

Sorry for sounding a little bitter here. I'm so sick and tired of Aeon superiority on water maps by now.

Of course it needs to be fixed (kind of a map problem though). :)
I waited ten years for Supreme Commander (1997-2007)
and have not a single day felt disappointed with it!
