I don't know any other game were destroying your own unit is better than fighting with it. Ask any player of any other RTS what they think about that mechanic, you will see.

Supcom FA should never compare itself to other RTS's which are inferior and pathetic.

If you want a historical precedent for killing your own units. Check out Russians vs French when Napoleon took over Moscow. If your average RTS gamer is an idiot who doesn't know history, that shouldn't have an effect on Supcom FA game design.

I hope we absolutely don't try to match the other poor RTS and their mechanics.

Having to kill your own units is part of the strategy as in up to you to scout your enemy and build what needs to be built. Fortunately you don't build random units to stop any units.

One being punished and raped cause he spammed only t1 versus his opponent investing into a t4 , is the right thing.

I don't see what RTS you are talking about, there are no game where you have to do that. I'm trying to avoid stupid game mechanics.

We want to keep FA unique, but not unique in the wrong way.

Let's take my example back. How is that any wrong ?
Do we really want t1 swarm to be able to counter a t4 ? == Do we want to nerf the crucial importance of scouting ?

We don't want a T1 army to be able to kill a T4.
We don't want someone to ctrl-k all his army because of a T4.

This was drawn to the extrem on purpose but I think you can get the idea out of it.

Hum why not ? If one has to do that , it means he did big mistakes building his own army, right ? Why shouldn't he be punished for those ?

Losing it to the XP is not punishing enough ? You have to give him health or do a stupid move for a RTS on top of it ?

I completely agree with Ze_Pilot on this one. It's absolutely unintuitive to have to ctrl+k your units or you lose the game. If it can be changed, it's definitely more elegant. And that's what the new system intends to do. T1 will not kill a t4 unit, but scratch it, and buy time instead of instantly boosting it like a mushroom in super mario.
