T2 UEF/Cybran navy balance

Postby LordVader » 28 Aug 2011, 22:58

Hey everyone, i have a few balancing issues to discuss. It`s only my point of view you may agree or disagree, but i really think these should be tested out.
1,
t2 UEF Destroyer gets killed by a t2 submarine.
UEF destroyer: mass: 2250, energy: 15000, build time: 10000
t2 (cybran) sub: mass: 1100, energy: 8800, build time: 4400
so basically you get to make 2 subs from the cost of 1 uef destroyer even tho 1 sub kills a destroyer. On the other hand the UEF destroyers weapon is the strongest so if the torpedo damage is increased it`ll kill the other destoyers easier which again would be inbalanced. So what i`d suggest is lower wepon damage and increase torpedo damage. I know some people will say that it`s okay because they have shield boats, but it`s not... absolutley not. They have shield boats, because thier range is a lot smaller than other destroyers range. And comon a bloodie torpedo boat... totally usless in a naval fight against destroyers.

I have more things to add, but i`ll test it first then i`ll make another post

When fighting subs as UEF, use the torpedo boat. This is a non-issue. Torpedo boats + Frigates + shields kill subs + destroyers.

This is a non issue. When fighting subs, use torpedo boats. When fighting enemy ships, use frigs, shield boats and/or destroyers.

Cybran navy is 2-3 different types of ship (Destroyer, Cruiser, sub) (or in my case, I add in a t3 sonar for the stealth too - in almost every way better than a stealth boat) with Cruisers and Destroyers in almost any combination will make it super strong

UEF Navy needs more care, but with that care can easily take out the cybran navy:
Torp boats at the front, right on the edge of the shields (so that the torps don't take out the shields)
Destroyers and cruisers behind it and the shield boats for that and you're in good standing.
However, Cybran navy with aeon shields and flakk is monstrous, but I'm not sure much can be done about that.

navy suggestions:

make T3 sonar more expensive, but with an omnisensor range, so it permits to see cybran navy.

speed shoot of T2 aeon destro

I think the only navy getting pwnd is aeon vs cybran, because t2 destr shots is easily dodged and if you use asylum you are very immobile. The only strat that works for me is to amass a critical amount and then engage, because kiting is bad for aeon^^

I concur with the first suggestion: Omni on T3 sonar (and one a seraphim unit... undecided which one).

About the second suggestion, although Aeon destroyers miss a lot, they would also be by-far the best if their shot speed was improved. I consider hover shields + strong T2 subs + T3 torpedo bomber to be sufficient to make up the difference of a crappy destroyer at present.

According to
http://88.191.143.136/faforever/unitsDB ... 01,URS0201
the aeon destr has lower dps if you only count the oblivion cannon. So in a straight up ranged fight it still has a disadvanted even if all shotts would hit.
Hm ok it has a bit higher hitpoints. If you manage to get into close range you're good too, because of the depth charge. Still I don't see how a t2 aeon navy can beat a cloaked, kiting cybran navy.
