The regen for advanced is 1/90th of the HP, with a cap of 200, the regen for regular is 1/50th of the HP, with a cap of 15. So with the regular restoration field, a unit of 750 HP will receive the cap of 15 HP/s regen. With the advanced, a unit of 1350 HP will receive 15 HP/s regen. So units that will get less regen when you've upgraded the field are:

Notha
Gunship
Torp Bomber
MML
Yenzyne hover tank
Mobile Flak
Sub

Any other unit will benefit more from the advanced regen field. With the current costs, it seems to me that it is balanced properly. Any lower regen and the basic regen field will not heal T1 and T2 units fast enough, but the cap is necessary to make sure that T3 units and T2 navy doesn't heal too fast. Any unit with over 18k HP will have the cap of 200 HP/s, so only battleships and experimentals will need more than 90 seconds to heal up completely.

You're right that it is weird, but looking at the numbers it does make sense to me.

It's also weird why some device on your hand gives you some random HP boost instead of actual regen to your armor. Making it +10 regen instead of +1.5k hp per upgrade would make a lot more sence and a lot more utility.

Best thing about restoration field is that it stays usefull for entire game. You'd be able to repair t1 or t4 at any stage whenever gun wouldnt be very usefull at late game. Hovewer you can't just make it not-obsolite by gun in early stage.

...unless there is gun on other hand? That's more of a problem of 2d gun though. But it whould be more interesting if 2d gun was some cheap upgrade with range, splash and damage. Something like 50ke and 1500m for 30 range, +100 dmg and splash. It would create some options for seraphim to go for gun-t2, field-gun or gun-gun combinations.

Not sure yet. Potentially bigger health boost and regen, but first it would be good to sort out base regen, and then figure out what to do with the advanced version.

Increase range to 30, same as gun range. This would allow a much larger portion of your army to receive the buff.

Give a 1.1x health boost, same as Advanced regen field. This means Thaams survive 1 more ACU hit with 8 hp, and would help a great deal with facing off against a gun com.

Remove ACU HP boost. The 1.1x HP boost is a pretty significant buff, and I don't thing the ACU HP boost makes sense anyway. Sera already has T2 and Nano regen as health boost options, there really isn't a need for a third.

(At least) double power cost. Regen field is currently 600 mass 4,500 power, compared to 800 mass 24,000 power for gun. ACU upgrades tend to be power intensive, and regen field being 500 e short of being buildable just from base storage is a little odd to say the least.
