Making beetles attack

I've created a new random event for Final Rush Pro survival map that spawns a pile of beetles. These are attack moved to behind the players bases. While testing, to my surprise, I found that those beetles just go through your base without actually attacking anything. Hence even if you have no defenses they will do 0 damage. Is it possible to somehow make the beetles attack whatever they get close to?
