especially saying gg as the winner after a game where somebody left, or you just steamrolled something is in my opinion not the nicest way

I do, however, find such behavior from members of the FAF gaming community to be generally unsportsmanlike and unacceptable, especially when directed against newer players.

But unfortunately, this is really a futile effort.

As soon as your son is given an internet connection he will be exposed to exponentially more flaming and bad manners than the supcom ai could ever muster. Though FA has less than the average, the mavnoobs, deathlys, cybrankillers, and iridiumBLOWS's will certainly find him. Don't worry, if he's older then 7 or so he's already heard it in school. I can distinctly remember saying whatever I wanted in elementary school but being very disciplined around my parents, and this was the prevailing behavior.

Also, "GG" is often used in a derogatory fashion. The winning side often drops an obnoxious preemptive GG, or players on the losing side say it when not in danger just to illustrate their disgust with their teammate(s). In FA I was exposed to the metaphorical/figurative GG - given by the losing player as if to acknowledge that their defeat is inevitable, though they intend to keep fighting and eventually bequeath yet another GG when they are actually leaving. Shep just gives the metaphorical GG at the beginning of our games. =)

The only way to get a 'GG' from an AIx is to beat it. And even then its AIx partner will say "i'll get you next time newbie!!'

If you lose you are abused in a virtual way because you deserve it lol. I don't think it does harm. Its only an attempt to give the AI a personality.

I do recall seeing an option in the settings to turn off AI taunting though...

I'm not personally sensitive. I'm a father, who is raising their kid up to be a well mannered gamer. Shortly after the 'request for patch items' came out, the supper conversation was about why it was OK for the AI to not throw out the GG but they must. Like I said - this is a very minor thing, but is a minor thing I could possibly change.

After looking at the graph, it appears we need to RAISE the AI smack talking to about 95%, thus giving us the most balanced game. It appears we'll also need better computers to accomplish this.

I totally expect to see some ass-hattery from live people on occasion. New players often skirmish the AI. Be nice if the AI would give them a set of 'gg' variants to learn from.

While playing ET the average comment when you are not good enough is: "LOL LOWTARD OMG YOU SUCK"
And on FAF in a similar situation you get: "Went better than expected, wp"
