How about some Capture the Flag? Each team is assembling a super-weapon which will obliterate the entire enemy team and all of the things they love if it is finished. You have to capture a unit at the center of the map (maybe an unarmed Fatboy carrying a piece of tech), take control of it, and escort it back to your base. If it is destroyed, a new one spawns at the center 30 seconds later. To add a twist, some MCTF. The escorted unit can spawn at any point in between both team's spawnpoints.
Or maybe some area control? You have to capture a building at a few different strategically tenable points, and defend that building. Whoever holds the most buildings generates more points, and whoever gets to x points by the end of the game wins. KOTH is an especially fun variation of area control.
Or, not even necessarily full-blown gamemodes, but maybe some modifiers and mutators. Civilians will build engineers, construct factories and play aggressively. There are structures strewn across the map which will do different, interesting things, like heal nearby units or launch units to other structures.
I know Civilian Defense does something similar, defending civilians and escorting units, but nobody ever plays it, and it is reliant more on the map-maker to place civilians at good points to make for a good game (Setons, the most popular map, doesn't even have any civilians). We also have a very fun gamemode (in my opinion) made by Brute51, Claustrophobia, which NOBODY PLAYS. Why is it so fun to keep throwing units at eachother on Setons?Statistics: Posted by MushrooMars — 08 Mar 2013, 02:51
