Don't get me wrong either you should be using them on the front lines, otherwise t2 engies are cheaper (unless you want to spoof a flanking maneuver). But I still think they shouldn't be selected with tanks unless you shift+click.

If you can toggle them that would be great: -You could start reclaim when a battle starts. Already after 1 reclaimed t2 tank they paid off.
This would not prevent to use them out of battle for fortification it simply makes them easier to use them inside battle. Somebody should tell me why to built an armoured & armed unit so expensive to use it somewhere alone in peace zone when i can get for 60% price a unit which can do this better? If you tell me the speed --> use a transport plane. (In general i was thinking more about 1v1 games like loki & desert planet ii, because in team games there might be not enough of variety in battlefields to have a big use)
Sparky should be a t3 unit which can get sams and t3 pds as well with 463 mass cost and 4k life 100 dps gun (small joke)

Most people use t1 engies hardly ever you can see them for this. 2.) If you reclaim after a battle you won then sparkies since they would be with your army are already at the spot and can start immidiately after you toggled a few. 3.) For building PD on a slow way over the map you will use just a few sparkies which you can toggle but if you have lik 6 of them or more in your army standing in a row you can directly when you get a second break from kiting spam PD in the enemy face. 4.) They have a gun, radar, jamming and lots of life 5:1 life per mass. They seem to be more fighting units or should be at least closer to battle. So far they are mostly underused, if handling is more easy i think it would change.
My picture looked like making for example 4 pillar 1 sparky or 3 Mongoose and 1 Sparky in a fac so i have a nice mix which offers more possibilities. Permanent reclaim and building PD will not be done by the majority of them. For those uses you can toggle them to engis (yes if this is possible).

If you make group select then you automatically select sparky as well. Then you have them always with mongoose for example as support. There should be a green function button on sparky (alike for example shield switch on/off) which is changing the properties of sparky to an engineer so if you want to use them for building pd somewhere you can change the switch for functionality and those will not be selected together with tanks. But standart should be fighting unit, because then they are always there where you need them. And you can use them as a really good t2 scout unit even with jamming. Light gun radar jamming fast turn rate and speed thats an invitation to use them as t2 battle scouts isnt it?
