to me "what is new" tab was always some kind of forsed thing, that you try to skip as fast as possible to get into chat or game...

Maybe we should start with chat tab, and what is new should be glowing with some sort of golden light with particle-ish effects xD If there is a new thing there

also not sure if post should be long, maybe that will be cool to be able to see like 4 news on single screen and if you never visit full version of post, it will also have different color (glowing gold/yellow/red with "NEW !!!" mark)

its a good beginning, I think this whats new page need some major rework, from blog looking page where you have to scrool down to actually see the news to something that has mostly news visible from the very opening

I have already considered this, and I will be asking for the keys to this in the VERY near future, but the last couple weeks have been too busy for me to tackle a new project Consider it done though.

Wanted to bump this as I still think it's a good idea (and it seems like many other folks do too). The comment about finding people to write is moot since there have been offers.

What's in the way of making this happen? Giving people logins? Or, what is bad about this that we are missing?

On the subject of finding people to write articles for the what's new tab, you have plenty of volunteers here (I'd also be willing to help there), but it might also be a good idea to open up and publicize (as in make a stickied forum post + mention it in what's new at least once a week) a way people can submit articles to the people in charge of the tab as you are probably going to get a lot of people who would love to write an article or two but not be dedicated to the task. This would allow a map maker to write up something about their new map, or a mod maker write up something about their mod that they can submit in a clear location without having to be a part of managing the tab.

It should be tab like others in faf where people would go to look for whats new, not just announcements, but also maps, mods, tournaments, everythng that is going on. Maybe some notifications about it would be also nice.

I think they skip it because they never expect there to be anything new. I spend about 0.025s seeing if there is something new, and then if there isn't (which there almost never is), I move on. If there was something new every few days, I think people would be more likely to spend more time on that page.

Like I said in my earlier post, I think it would be good to have 5-10 people with posting privileges though. That way real life and lack of perspective don't get in the way.

Might just be a good idea to give posting privileges to mods, trainers, tourney directors, etc and then see what happens.

Make the Whats New tab glow/colored when there is a new post until you have read it.

If you want more news, write them. Even ZeP asked for people who can write news regularly, only lextoc did a few.
