Lots of people use hotbuild but don't use control groups. Interesting that.

No, hotbuild works without buildmode. You don't even need to hold down ctrl or another key. Just assign the keys in F1 and enjoy.

This is my problem, for you to be able to do this, you have to enter Build mode, which is activated by hitting B and deactivated by hitting Esc.

I want it so Build mode is activated By Holding a Key and deactivated by releasing that Key. Like in normal strategy games where you don't even have to enter build mode, (This would basically be the same as those but where the hotkey is in fact Ctrl+Hotkey or Key+Hotkey. )

Yes I would basically like Zulan's mod implemented.

Or is this already the case?

There is already integrated hotbuild.

Currently to build things fast you have to enter Build mode and this then disallows normal actions to happen properly :/
(Maybe there is way for this or maybe I am wrong)

But I think it'd be neat if you could while Ctrl is held down, build units based off of a preset list of Hotkeys. G for Generator , M for mex etc, where these are then can be edited to whatever a person prefers.

I'm not sure if there already exists a way to do this, but i always found build mode to clunky to use :/

I think this could be easily achieved by instead of having Build mode as "B enter Esc leave" Setting default as simply Holding down B or holding down another Key which is set.
