Ofcourse not for all players... but it exist. And 20 mins or hours of looking at dark screen for sure have effect on player's mood. So it must be changed

Nah, has always been the grey overlay. Even back in AoE. Though AoE had 2 stages. Undiscovered areas black, and not currently visible with grey overlay.
