Depending on where i live, i have access do DSL, Cable or Optical Fiber technology, all with proprietary auth stuff related to ISP. So buying a custom router is not an option for a lot of people in a lot of countries. You just have to use then one they shipped to you.

And then most of them will reboot randomly every day for IP renewal, or even worse for service maintenance, updates from ISP or such things. People dont go reboot their routers themselves in middle of a game ^^

Most of the time you cannot just request a static ip. It's not available or it cost money, and offen it is in the range of "business offers" which always cost more money for no reason.

Sometimes tho after 2 minutes a player get back and reconnects with all players but one or two.

If two player drop at same time because they have the same ISP that make all his routers reboot at same time, then they won't be able to reconnect to each other either (fairly rare but it happenned to me with friends).

What this game really needs is a piece of code that is able to kill all connection between players during a game and re-establish them from scratch if needed (using faf proxy if required). As long as everyone stopped the game at the same tick there is no reason it can't be done, unless you have to change original code for this.

In the Netherlands it's possible to call the customer service to put your modem/router in 'bridge mode', meaning it will only function as a modem. That way you can buy your own router. They might still reboot for IP renewal (which didn't ever happen during a time when I would notice), but at least you probably have a router that's way better than the standard ISP stuff.

Of course you can buy one yourself. However, that doesn't mean I can't understand people having bad connections (because most people don't get another router).

Exactly. And even if you buy something more costly like Netgear dgnd3800b, it has some flaws. Every 24 my isp disconnects the internet. So the router reconnects and gets another ip. Becuause of this problem normally i disconnect manually before I play. There is no option to do that automatically at a reasonable time.

Am I right if the ip changes there is no chance to get back in game?

All these people that need to "reset" their router makes me wonder what kind of crap they use. The last time I needed to "reset" my router was in 2008 with a Linksys AG041 that died when you would get the list of BF2 servers available and ping 'm all. That thing was replaced under warranty for a AG241 that never had to be rebooted and died of old age two months ago.

Considering even in the Netherlands lots of people just get crappy routers from their providers I can understand.

They were a small discussion about the kick timer on aeolus because someone had his box crashed, and when he came back he was already kicked, to be honest most of the time you will never be back in 40 seconds when your box crashed. It takes 2-3 minutes to reboot it.

I'm not that afraid of increasing the timer because anyways on fa you need to be patient since it's not a huge community(sometimes : hi 30 minutes to fill a game)

So the idea was to increase the kick timer to 2 minutes or 3 minutes to let people have enough time to rejoin.
BUT, sadly the problem is when someone leaves (by alt f4 or by the menu, w/e), sometimes it makes the game "bug" and we have to kick him(so need to wait 45s, or 2-3 minutes if the timer is modified, and no one (even I) doesn't want to wait 3 minutes because someone left(not because he bugged but he left the games, he died and left, or the game was over so he leaves)).
It's needed to know if the player left or if he bugged(but is it possible? I don't know). And this bug doesn't happen at every game...

What do you think about that idea ? I'm curious to see other opinions.

Hf and good bye.
