I don't see a reason in FAF though. The FAF infrastructure is not built in a way to support this, it can easily be used for doing the exact same thing to TA, but it cannot be used for running both of them at the same time.
This is gonna cost a lot of time, so if somebody (the TA community) is interested in doing this, they should just fork FAF. FAF is build in a way everything can be easily applied to TA, the major change is probably in the way you interact with the game, FA has the ice adapter with the GPGNet server, that would require some change. If anybody is interested in doing this, contact us, we can help you with getting into the infrastructure.

There was development on some sort of universal patch a year or two ago that had been going on for ages but I think it's dead in the water now. Nobody seems to plays 3.1/vanilla TA in the last few years either (a pity in my eyes) ESC mod took over.

I could make a thread on TAUniverse.com see if anybody over there is interested in collaborating. Feel a bit daft talking about it beyond a suggestion because it's not my skills and time being sacrificed of course.

The issue is that it also sounds like a big amount of work. I do not know if TA already has their own community and/or custom client.
If we get an infinite development workforce, I think this would be awesome.

Both games still have an audience and not altogether brilliant multiplayer clients. It might encourage more people to get into FAF, as well as keeping FAF players in the eco system if they fancy a change.

I know SupCom 2 wouldn't have a lot of fans here but Total Annihilation would massively benefit from some sort of autopatcher and mod manager. It's quite unfriendly to new players who want to get set up quickly.
