I had to go to a movie in the middle of an exceedingly lengthy dual gap game that i had started in the morning and had already run into the late afternoon. Seriously this game lasted forever, we had already build and lost two Mavors when I left. I came back to a victory screen and one player having built 14 Cybran T3 arty. That was neat.

You reclaimed all their stuff for mass and pumped it into a game ender and won? :D

Just tell them that you will have to go because it is getting late for you. As long as you don't do that every second game, I think most will not have a problem with that.

Also: Don't alt f4, just quit over the menu, alt f4 can cause the connection screen to show up for the players still in the game you quit.

Voting on kicking a player will NEVER happen as this can be abused way too easily.

It is quite common for larger team games to go for quite some time ( 1+ hours of real time ) and, at least for me, might mean that I am out of time for playing - for example because its 1am and I need to go to sleep. If I stumble upon a game that drags for such a long time it leaves me in a rather uncomfortable state, because:
- If I alt+f4 i screw over my team and possibly other team as well
- we started two hours ago and it does not seem to be ending soon because we dropped to -5
- alt+f4 might be considered a rating manipulation

Generally speaking, It seems bo be bad manners to exit for no reason other then my inability to continue.

Thusly - I suggest to at least consider some sort of graceful exit option for FAF.

Personally - I'd suggest:

An 'Evacuate' ACU upgrade which takes approx 1 minute to complete, is not cancellable and costs significant energy ( T3 level ). Once the 'upgrade' completes the ACU is removed from the game and some sort of sharing option is invoked for the rest of his team.

Obviously - the retreating player is considered a loser, regardless of the final result of the game.

Essentially - maybe there should be an option to exit the game gracefully without screwing over other players. This also seems to be an option for everyone to vote on kicking a lagger, griefer or low-cpu dude without suffering consequences.

Opinions?
