it only matters when you try to change your rally point during rolloff to avoid factory lock. then it isn't always clear if the factory correctly interpreted the command

I don't understand the problem, as you would already know where the engie goes when you select the factory to change the waypoint and you would still only change the side after the engie already moved a tiny amount. I mean any player that cares about unit rolloff times will not have no waypoint set.

Whats hard to read there? you set the waypoint to either side, you know that the engie in build follows the waypoint...

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

Aeon players can't tell which side of the factory their engineers are facing because the front and the back of the engineer look identical.

This is bad because it makes it more difficult for beginners to learn the right timing of setting your rally point from the left side of the factory to the right side of the factory and vice versa.

What do I mean by "right timing"? If you set it too early, the previous unit will have to turn around and lock the factory for some seconds. If you set it too late, the engineer will have to turn itself, thus also locking the factory for some seconds. The right timing is during the roll-off of the previous unit and before the construction of the engineer.

SUGGESTED SOLUTION:

WHY THE SOLUTION WILL HELP:

1) It provides immediate feedback while the engineer is still being built, which speeds up learning.

2) If you mess up finding the right timing, the engineer can leave the factory through the "wrong" side instead of locking it for some seconds, which is consistent with other factions and thus more intuitive for new players.
