I just find it annoying that if i have guncom with shield it is better for me to stay longer in the fight until the enemy shot my shield down than to walk away with a fraction and have an unusable commander for the rest of the game.

Well that's the drawback of the upgrade (can't get only good side of the upgrade, it is already a really good upgrade)
and it kind of force you to be more aggressive and have a more active/aggressive gameplay, which is good imo

I suppose one _possible_ option would be a "Go offline and recharge" button, but if we went that route it would probably still drain E, and you'd not be able to turn back on until full charge, to keep it a CHOICE instead of a 'Non-choice' (Do it or you'll lose if the enemy knows to do it).

But a button with a description is hard to miss and not hard to understand. Also if it would just be full recharge like if it got shot down it doesn't give any real advantage. (in fighting at least)
I didn't think about recharging from a point and other factors. I just find it annoying that if i have guncom with shield it is better for me to stay longer in the fight until the enemy shot my shield down than to walk away with a fraction and have an unusable commander for the rest of the game.

Well i don't have any other ideas, just wanted to bring that up..

the only way to get to recharge faster, is too take damage to "kill" the shield by getting shot by opponent unit, or using aoe friendly fire.

we may/should consider using aoe friendly fire as a abuse. But fixing this seems to be harder than we think, and since nearly no one abuse it, we may consider not changing anything. (maybe just by banning the act of "killing" your own shield on purpose, idk)

Ok i obviously didn't understand the mechanics of this...
So you can't actually recharge it fully when toggling it on and off again.
It only looks like its recharging back to full, but then magic happens and its back to its original value.

So this is to avoid people from trying any kind of shield micro?

(Sorry if this is offtopic)

I thought that logic behind this is that "why would shield do anything if it does not consume power?"
so when you turn shield off it does not recharge. i have not actaully ever checked if it keeps regening or not.

when you turn shield ON it takes some time to get i back online, that is quick blue progress bar gives you confusion
if i have my ACU shield at 50% and then tunr shield off and on, blur progress bar will fill quick and then my shield will be at 50% again

You wait till 100% recharge and then it jumps back to shield hp it had before i toggled it off..
bug or feature?

Could you explain what your suggestion does differently from the current shield dome toggle?

Since with that you can just toggle your shields off and on again and it'll quickly recharge while down.

Can you? I never realized...
I thought it just does nothing when turned off. :/
Seems like im stupid. Then maybe add the orange recharge bar while turned off so noobs like me notice. ^^
Ok then sorry to have brought that up.

But i don't know if that doesn't make the shields too strong. Though it also gives the opponent an opening if he sees it.

The reason shields work they way they do is because without this, attacking without being CERTAIN you can break the shield in one go becomes pointless. Shield recharge is REALLY FAST healing, so you'd never be able to wear it down. Shields would become unassailable in the hands of someone with good micro.

also would be good to just make shield RECHARGE while it is off

That is a more elegant solution and also logical. But that would be too op if you could use recharge-regen between arty-shots and pauses in fighting.

i should be able to turn shield off and make it recharge, and whenever i want, say when recharge boosted it to 75% i can just turn shield on. or when i reaches 100% it would activate automaticly.

That would be the other option. That it locks you in recharge from the point the shield had. But i think that still can be abused. You could just repeadetly recharge from 95%. Or 75+ between shots.

Easiest is to make it recharge from zero so it isn't abusable in any way.

also if it's 50% and you put if off, does it start recharge from 50% or 0% ?
