Not necessary. Even with firm ground the pressure would be so intense that the ground would be severely disturbed, with an impact crater. The ACU would either be crushed into a pile of wreckage under it's own weight or buried beneath the surface.

This is false. We do have color palettes and textures for swamps and mud. Also, we have sand and wet sand = soft ground.

A giant robot standing 100 m tall and falling from a height of perhaps 300 m would exert such a tremendous pressure that it is unlikely that it would survive with legs intact. To say nothing of the terrain it is standing on. This was precisely the problem that the German's discovered in WW2 with their massive tanks (such as the "Rat"). They suffered greatly from excessive ground pressure, which made them useless on soft ground.

Assuming that a wall section is a lump of concrete at 50 mass, around 10x10x10 volume, about 3/4 of which isn't concrete, then that means a mass fabricator needs ~2.5e+22 joules to run.

Lets be generous and assume that the t2 mass fabricator needs 250 e to run, that means 1e == 1x10^22J. Supposing a hydrocarbon powerplant runs off the relatively energy dense methane, then to produce 100e it must burn approximately 2x10^11 tonnes of methane a second. This is equivalent to burning the mass of the moon in methane every 40 seconds.

I hereby recommend a nerf to the hydrocarbon power plant.

Really Lich, you should become a modder yourself your ideas would be much easier to digest if they were already done and ready to implement (preferably in a form of sim mod).

Spoiler: show
Upgrade for Legs: Name: Leg decelerator; Mass: 200; Energy: 1000; Build Time: 20; Description: Expires after one usage. Used automatically during fall. Suggested animation: Tactical missile explosion animations all around ACU, something like this.

OR
Spoiler: show
Upgrade for head: Name: Personal liquid capsule; Mass: 200; Energy 1000; Build Time: 20; Description: Infinite usage, stuns ACU for 5 second if used, used automatically during fall, recharge time 45 sec. Suggested animation: None.

P.S.: I never suggested and will not suggest to allow SCUs survive the fall. They may be better combatants and sometimes even have a human inside (UEF and Cybran 6th Vanilla missions), but allowing Rambo SCUs survive a transport fall... would be very OP...

We have already discussed this. It might be twice the pressure of that under a stiletto heel. I don't know if you've ever made a woman angry, but, while a bit destructive to flesh and unstable ground, I'm sure you can agree that some futuristic metal or metal composite could take this load without a problem. Unless of course you made her really angry.

Ah, but you see, pressure is not about absolute mass, it is about mass per area. If it did indeed have a mass such as the one you are proposing, then it would likely float in water, and we know this not to be the case. I certainty don't like the idea of my ACU floating, it doesn't look like it has the skeleton to be a competent swimmer. I'd rather we do not make this change and leave ACUs amphibious.
