Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah why isnt this in faf yet

It wasn't extensively tested enough, and the code behind it is actually pretty complex so it needs careful review. It will be hopefully put in for the next beta period so it can be tested by the community at large in a few weeks. Expect it in 3660 (Or 3662 if Zock steals 3660 with a balance release before then), end of October, at the latest (Assuming testing verifies it works and people actually want it).

Was laziness on my part when I threw together the SimCallback, just took the mex race bpid when deciding what type of MS to build, changed it to use the actual engineer race now

Yeah, disabled them on purpose due to their assist order being "bugged" , it will stay permanent after a mex upgrades due to the REBUILD feature (assisting a structure is a valid order in their case). Not sure how to bypass that easily, would have to manually rebuild order queue which is harder than it sounds.

I would suggest for upgrading mex change it to having to just double-right click to queue storages (not sure with shift or without, thats better for you to decide), no matter if some of the selected engies are already assisting. Not sure if this logic has some big flaws, just a suggestion, tell what you think.

Changed the assist behavior of upgrading mexes, now you need to hold down shift + right click twice on a mex to get engineers to both assist and build storages. (a good thing is that the exact behavior will be UI-moddable)

It seems like a cool idea but please don't release any new "features" until we get other stuff working properly again?

Spoiler: show
(tfw u make a mod out of it and then realise it cant be ui only, q_q no cheat)

There were 3 things that irritated me:

1st: script is faction sensitive, can't place storages with right click for mexes of different factions i captured or from a given teammate's base (have to make sure you have proper faction's engies selected for different mexes) actually can't really figure out why it's faction sensitive, explain please?

2nd: doesn't work with SCUs. You might ask if it should work with them at all and I think yes, it should. (Ideally optional of course :DD)

3rd: "If mex currently is upgrading, at least one of the selected engineers need to be already assisting the mex for it to trigger (i.e. need to click twice). This to prevent unwanted build order when you only want to assist upgrade", this logic kind of works not so well with upgrading mex, lets say you have 11 engies around the mex, 1 engie already assisting mex and 10 others are idle (lets say misclicked to assist the storage), if you want to only assist and not build storages you have to make sure to select only the idle engies since selecting all engies in the area and ordering assist will result into assitsing and then making storages (remember 1 of the engies was already assisting the mex). Best in this case would be probably just to select all engies, order random move order and then right away reorder to assist the mex, not a big flaw but still.

2nd flaw of it is that if you have your group of engies away from the mex and you want to assist it's upgrade and then build storages right after you can't do so, no matter how many times you click on upgrading mex, if you don't have at least 1 of the selected engies already assisting the mex, storages won't queue up. Note that if you queue 2 consecutive assist commands with those engies that are of assist range, they will come close, assist and after the mex upgrade finishes the 2nd assist command just dissapears and doesn't result in anything. This flaw is pretty annoying.

I would suggest for upgrading mex change it to having to just double-right click to queue storages (not sure with shift or without, thats better for you to decide), no matter if some of the selected engies are already assisting. However if all of the selected engies are already assisting the mex, then single right click should be the trigger.
Not sure if this logic has some big flaws, just a suggestion, tell what you think.

P.S. On the controversial nature of such feature - I personally am against game simplification and automation, this particular feature however didn't strike me as a blatant bullshit, actually a more or less neutral reduction of tedious work.

Seems capping damaged mex will repair first then cap (all one command). Personally i'd rather (but really doesn't bother me) capping without repair but i guess that's just a function of the assist command. Much the same way as engineers automatically repair damaged mex after assisting with upgrade of damaged mex. Maybe top players would consider this enough a waste of resources to turn off? Do top players consciously stop engies assisting damaged mex after assisting upgrade of damaged mex?
First repair the mex, then assist it.

Btw, where can I download the mod? I couldnt find it.

What if the mex is damaged and you assist it? Will it first repair, after that build mass storages, just repair it, or start building mass storages without repairing? Also isnt it better to make it only happen when double clicking assist?

I think the important part is testing it to make sure that the behavior is intuitive and makes sense. It sounds like it was thought through though.
