If everyone tried to use TML like this your idea might gain some traction, but perhaps your mind might take the logical progression and ask itself, "why isn't anyone excited about this?" And you would eventually come up with the answer: you ought to build units instead of wildly inefficient static defense.

TML are designed for use against static structures and their features will generally be balanced towards such activities.

And yet, area bombing would still be useful against fortifications with shields. Especially on Rohans.

Also you can add them to force groups with CTRL-5 through 9 or whatever and go 5 L 6 L 7 L etc to pepper an area.

shift+g thing means that you will have to click trought all units from that area, and shift+g does not even make any sence if you have only one missile launcher

Or, if you set them not to attack, shift+g, then set them to attack, will they split attack?

This time I have a suggestion about TML. We all know how we have to micro manage them, sometimes select multiple targets for multiple TMLs. That takes the precious time. We all also know that when a bunch of TML is selected, you can select ONE and only one target for the whole group. Aren't you tired of that? I mean, TML have better range than stationary artillery but still... Range doesn't fully compensate the necessity of micro. TMLs can't hit a moving ML or GC or often even a Fatboy.
So, I suggest to add an option of using 3+ TMLs with at least 3 missiles each to target an area. Like a separate command for TML only that functions when 3 or more TML are selected. And the area that can be hit is to be determined by the amount of TML present. And by how are they arranged. Say there are 6 TMLs in a 2x3 rectangle. Each TML has 3 missiles. And what happens is that all 6 TMLs shoot out 6 missiles that fall on 6 random spots within the designated area. Then the missiles go again, second time at random spots, and again, 3rd time. No more than 3, because that'd allow some people to crack even the toughest possible defenses - TML still does pretty good damage. But this tweak would allow to not waste missiles trying to hit an individual T2 tank or T3 bot and wasting the time that unit stands still for micro.
