Done: Decided to expand and create more concepts in the future with seperate categories because speed bitc.... gave some constructive criticism. See: http://forums.faforever.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=10854#p110713

Most of the things should be done. All objectives, enemy units etc... when sounds and videos are done, I ll tweak it to fit everywhere as we want.

Is it possible to do ''sequences'' where a player has to accomplish a certain objective and then it clears everything and do a different objective? If so, it might be nice to make an ''advanced'' tutorial for basic micro, being pitted against enemy with more tanks (concave), more inties (air micro), kiting (take no damage), break firebase with arty/mml/t3 mobile arty, frigate duel (dodging with damaged frigate), reclaim (race to get an experimental up, like your gc vs enemy monkey) etc. Of course this is for later but it's part of letting players know what tools they have at their disposal and what they can do to define outcomes of a battle besides making more units.

You can delete anything on map. But I think more cool way of doing this would be big enough maps that would alway have only smaller area shown where you would finish the objective and then camera moves to different part of the map (the previous get offmap, if you have ACU it can teleport to new location, whatever) and do next part and so on...

Also some buttons once you finish asking you if oyu wanna continue or try it again (even if you fail it can automatically reset without need of restarting the whole tutorial) Right now I dont know how would I delete wreckages, but in terms of micro they wouldnt really do any harm on map.

After I posted I realized speed2 already said he was going to cover the engy mod so my post was redundant.
So I deleted.

Not with this one, but i have in mind 3 more tutorials which i hope will be made. So it will be a series for completely new players to cover most of the game and unit types:

1. Very basic, base building and t1 land.
2. T2 land and air including HQ explanation.
3. Naval t1 and t2, hover and torpedo bombers.
4. T3 and exp units.

Is that good enough? Something to add to these tutorials or maybe take away? Or just leave first 2 and rest people can as well figure themselves?

Also i think tutorials about unit micro are kinda unnecessary here. The point of tutorial is to teach players how the game works and its mechanics, not how to get an edge over your opponent. This is something players should work out themselves :)

I think the objective should better come in bulk and change once everything is completed to be less confusing. Like first objective is to build a landfac, 2 pgen and 2 mex to get started. Next one - build engie and build rest of the base, after its done a subobjective will come up to build a hydro and explaining it (you forgot this one).

Next, regarding 1st expansion. Cool trick with the eye reveal :) Lets say there will be total 5 tanks guarding it, have to make sure its nothing overwhelming for the new guy. Also they should be just standing, when i tried it couple tanks ran away from my army when i engaged :) And have to add objective to capture the mexes too.

Radar markers are nice, i suggest placing 2 here:
Spoiler: show

Also swap the bases so the pds are on the right and fac on the left. 3 pds are nice, is it possible to trigger a voice message when you first run into them (also trigger sub objective and target pds, this is to explain the arty)? Regarding the factory base, bad idea to make units raid player's base. Instead let them patrol some area around their base and respawn if they are killed. Lets say 2 patrols 5 tanks each, and another 5 tanks guarding.

For the final objective:
Right 2 mex expansion guarded by pd and a 5 tank patrol. Hydro + radar same with pd and a 5 tank squad respawning. Base, 4 facs and some pgens, 2-3 pds, 3 5tank squads patroling 2 guarding. Guess that should be enough?

  • Unpack it into your map folder, usually:
    Code:
    C:\Users\UserName\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Maps
  • Host any coop mission
  • Switch to this tutorial, play
    • If you have coop patch downloaded already, you can use Shortcut that is in map folder to launch coop offline

Timing of videos objective assigment can and will change. Now its up to you to put it in some shape. Write down what needs to be said to player, etc...
