Gravity zones: gravity becomes to heavy, slowing hover or making then incapable of traversing the water
Solar flare: large emp ( can be detected ahead of time), meaning can cause energy problems like the real flare does
Heat wave: reduces regen greatly
Magnetic field flux: causes shields and stealth fields to become more unreliable
Unsuitable- atmosphere: reduces speed of planes, make flak super deadly
Sea captain's nightmare : rough waves cause subs to be inaccurate, and force surface ships to move slower and have reduced underwater vision
These are just some ideas I make the game more fun, tell me what you think

This can go two ways also. One way can be the more realistic aproach where you use physical conditions that don't screw the core game but only enhance level of impact that normal faf has, meaning it deepens the meaning position on the map and terrain. That would be the first part. The second one would be more on SF side (meaning not that probable in real world) or just very very similar to Sins of the Solar Empire where the position of units on the map can do this or that to them.

By all means mod them, could be great fun for some people, but I don't see any chance whatsoever of these making it into the primary FAF game.
