Spoiler: show
And of course you will do it for me

I sometimes play with active heightmap, but, as far as you know, not all, and really most of the custom maps do not provide us with a generated heighmap.
Obviously, there are two main reasons for using the heightmap:
First, it makes the game run faster and smoother.
Second, it's kinda easy to manage gameplay at many points, because you wouldn't be bothered by any small details, just symbols of units, reclaim, mass-points and so on.
Also, heightmap is important for those who run game on old slow PC with Pentium 4 and 4 GBs of RAM inside.

So, is there any possibility to create a mod which could generate the heightmap for a custom map with one and then cache it into some place, so you would not have to generate it again?

Very nice here.
