As for pictures, they're just purple mass symbols. Also too lazy to make a screenshot as I would have to make the game run in windowed to be able to take one and that messes up my UI placement.
EDIT: Made them hot pink in the end. Darker purples are harder to see on certain terrains.

If somebody else wants to do this, the files are found in: "\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\gamedata\env.scd\env\Common\splats\mass_strategic.dds" "\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\gamedata\env.scd\env\Common\splats\mass_marker.dds"
The env.scd is a common zip file easily managed with whatever utility(maybe even windows built-in works?) you wish, I used 7zip myself since it allows easy copy-pasting in and out of the archive.
Then you'll need an image program to modify the mass_strategic.dds and mass_marker.dds, I used GIMP 2 with this DDS extension to flip the colours to purple, seems to work on all maps.

I'd really appreciate something I can actually see, without having to go looking around.
While we're at it, can we change the dark blue player colour to something else somehow? It's hard to see any of the markings on that.
