By the way don't forget to make a profil (you make it when the start for the first time the game without faf), otherwise you won't have templates, which are helpful.

you can install from disc AND from steam
installing from disc will give you 3596 version of game and yea as previosly said you may want to patch it
installing from steam gives you 1.6.6 witch is almost equal to patching normal game to 3603 beta patch

you can use both of those version to play on FAF

FAF does support 3596 3599 3603 beta and 1.6.6 (steam version)

but FAF's patching does not affect game files. It creates new folder where it dumps all needed files (not much of them and some other files are here C:\ProgramData\FAForever)

so you can play outside of FAF after getting FAF patch

you need to install supcom fa and then this lobby. then you can play a game, and any updates, maps and mods will be downloaded automatically, as needed.

some people prefer to update their game to 3599 anyway, as it does not require a cd should you wish to run it without faf.

if you want to get maps/mods before starting a game, please consult the inbuilt map and mod vaults (accessible vai the "vaults" tab in the lobby)

Just got a boxed copy of FA and was going to install it to Steam actually then I found this site. If I install disk will the updates be automatic? And if so I assume I just d/l the lobby client here and let it do its thing.
