I'm rated at 1300. I sometimes use the command, but, only rarely in the heat of battle. More commonly I will achieve similar formation results by giving everything a move command. Then I will selectively tell the fore-running units to pull back, or flank, so they attack at the same time.

I also use the command with air units which travel at different speeds. If, for example, I have a group of ASF, transports and gunships. They have a long distance to travel but I want the gunships to attack and the transports to drop at exactly the same time. I also want the ASF to hang back and protect them as they are doing so. I don't want the ASF to run in and get blown to bits by AA. The solution? Select all air units and:

1. Formation move to a point just outside the enemy base
2. Select transports and que drop, and que move command home
3. Select ASF and gunships. Que attack move command into enemy area and que patrol triangle over drop zone.

The result is that all air units will move together. As soon as they reach the first waypoint, the fighters and gunships will break formation and attack. While the transports move in to execute the drop. The whole sequence will happen automatically with no further micro-management required.

Please post a youtube clip when doing so.

This post is more interesting than i thought..
Is there anyone rated 1300 and more who is using this command?

It's very useful in some situations.

You need to care to only use it with units that are already close together, or they will take forever to group.

That's for formation move, there is also coordinated attack, that happened to me a few times by accident, but I haven't seen anyone using this intentionally.

Never did. Makes sense when i hear it.
Have you sometimes had positve results doing so?

Do attack - moving units move with the same speed?

You need to do a formation move, right click and hold, until a formation appears, then let go of the button. Now all units will gowith the speed of the slowest one. However, I would not reccommend doing that, since that makes attacks REALLY slow compared to normal ones.

but ofc.. if you move and attack in a formation you achieve higher unit efficiency and it actually allows you too do some cool things with it.. Its like A moving without being so vulnerable to arty :P

how do you manage a combined attack move, so that all used (different) units attack at same speed?
