i really have no idea how to micro interceptors and handle them.
first: how should i place them? if i make them patrole, they will run out of fuel.

dont do that.

but when i let them sit at different points on the map, they wont attack enemy interceptors flying by and are very vulnerable to hit and run attacks.

keep your intis together in a place where you can reach most points on the map in the shortest time possible

second: how do i engage enemy interceptors.
usally i just let my interceptors fly in the direction of the hostile threat, but most of the time they fly by. the enemy interceptors split up and go into a dogfight where they own my interceptors who basically do... nothing.
i think thats because of superior microing. so can someone mabye give me some tips?

you have to turn them around before they collide with the other interceptors.
as a rule of thumb, click to the point where the enemy will be in about 1 second.
