I still don't agree. Multiplayer will help you learn the difference between a Lobo and a Fervor for example, but only if you have a basic understanding of what you can use a T1 artillery for in the first place.

Campaign mode lets you get an understanding of the foundations first, and I think that's very important.

Campain is worth playing it and you will learn something about the game, but nothing you couldnt learn more efficient in multiplayer

I think you underestimate how intense multiplayer is for a new player. Imagine playing a 5k 1v1 map without really knowing what you should build, and having 20 enemy tanks inside your base in under six minutes.

I don't think that's a conducive environment to learning the basics, that's an overwhelming beating that would leave you confused and with no desire to play again.

With the SupCom Vanilla campaign you get loads of opportunity to try out different unit combinations until you find what works, with little real threat of being rushed or sniped.

The good news is that playing against good human opponents, and then watching the replays to see what they did right/what you could do better, is the best way you can learn. :D

I have just found out about FAF last week after deciding to give SC and FA a try. Was looking for a new game to play and i settled on this mostly out of nostalgia for Total Annihilation. I completed the first mission on FA last night and it took forever so I am a total newbie but I am keen (probably after playing the single player a bit more) to go multiplayer so if any other newbies want to join up and practice then let me know!

Regards,

NR107

Thank you all for your encouragement - really!

I must admit I was quite frustrated, when I posted this. :?

I felt like beeing excluded from a club I wanted to join so badly for I really love the (first) both SupComs and it's damn epic gameplay and really liked to play with others now. But you are right:

* I gave up too early
* There are ways to play for me, too
* There are players tolerating newbies
* and ye, I can still host myself

Today a played a few games (and ye, I wasn't very good...) but still had fun and that's what I was looking for! I am looking forward to spend more time at FAF, and try to grow some skill soon ;)

Regards, DeLaBoon!

Look me up. Ill play with you.
