applying official patch 3598 or 3599 removes pirate protection.

V1.5.3596 is the first patch that removes the Securom CD protection.
(i am not sure if 3589 and 3599 will also remove it)

If yes, does your 3596 installation asks for a CD every time you start game vya shortcut?

IF not then you have a cracked-modifyed forgedalliance.exe file, and that is why you can't patch it.
version 3596 has a pirate protection that asks to insert game's CD disk every time. if that protection is removed, then you can't apply patches cause patches see that files are alteady modifyed and think that your instalation is corrupted.
applying official patch 3598 or 3599 removes pirate protection. So instead of applyign "no cd" on 3596 version you should just patch it to higher version.

you have few options:
1) buy game on steam or redeem game on steam if you have a CD key left and play on FAF with it. (or even play without faf, but why..?)
2) reintall game and before applying "no cd". patch it up to at least 3598 (but better use at least 3599, cause nobody uses 3598)
If you used some pirate website and have re-packed version, then it might have "no-CD" embedded in it, so reinstalling will not work. you would have to download original installation.
3) find original 3596 ForgedAlliance.exe and replace modifyed with original and then patch the game to whatever version you want to use. i can probably give you a download link this evening (in 8 hours or so) if you can't solve problem in any other way.

As Louvegarde said, we can't help you much with our "FAF" game, because FAF is at game version 1.5.3707 and you can only use the FAF game if you download the FAF client.
(And you have to prove that you are the owner of an official (buyed) game copy, or we won't help you at all.)

But if you do have desyncs it's most probably because you have the wrong version of the game. All players should always have the exact same version.
If you don't have the game on steam, simply use the keycode at the back of your CD/DVD retail box (the serial code) on steam - it should give you a free copy.
