About a year ago when I first started using FAF and playing FA, I had very bad lag issues during mid-late game, (After about 45 min in length). My CPU specs back then were an i7 920 @ 3Ghz, Gigabyte 7970 @ stock, Asus P6T Standard Ed. motherboard, 18Gb of RAM, and It should be noted that at the time, this game was installed on an HDD; the game became unplayable after 1 hour using regular AI's, Sorian Ai's and/or a mix of both. A few months ago, I upgraded to these specs: i7 6700K @ 4Ghz, 980ti @ stock, some Asus Z170 motherboard that I forgot the name of, and 16Gb of RAM. Surprisingly enough, everything was running smoothly, and continued to do so beyond the 2 hour mark, **without ever dropping in framerate** (None of my games have lasted beyond that, so I do not know how long it would have persisted). My internet connection is roughly 125 Gb down and 10 up; this connection speed was present from both my previous and current set up.
A friend of mine now has another lag-related issue, but this one involves the game freezing very briefly, but frequently. You can tell its not smooth not only by looking at the game, but by looking at the clock at the top right - time does not pass at the normal rate. After he leaves, it fixes the issue. I asked if he did anything with regards to port-forwarding and firewall admissions, and he said he did for both. Judging from what I said above and past experiences, does this lag issue sound like its inherent to the FAF client (Updates), to his system, server, or something else?
