The last Worth SW strategy game was GB... then we got EaW that was very bad, and this make me hate Petroglyph...
but also this make me love it, because we can grow FAF by making a Star Wars mod.

How? , you may be asking.
by making a good SW mod and putting on ModDB people that like SW will buy the game to play the mod, but while this happens they, and us, will also advertise FA(F)
And if this SW be very good we can show FAF to more and more people... and then Rule the world! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

EDIT- this can also end up on Steam, but its is very improbable.

actually though i could appreciate this. I mean like id buy it..

But far I know the only mod that sufered for the Law was MW:LL because it was a very good mod, and it's was f2Play , but Piranha games wanted to make a F2Pay game... but it's is ok.

Also I want to move to ModDB, because the FAF foruns should be more focused on things for FAF!

Ok, I'm genuinely interested, do you think/know if the mod authors for Star Wars mods in Minecraft, TA, Call of Duty, Sins of a Solar Empire, Half-Life 2 etc wrote to Lucasarts and got permission?

The use of copyrighted material, such as small community and non-profit nature, probably does matter under fair use clauses and other restrictions on IP, otherwise people would get sued for making the mods I've listed above (again, basic Google search, didn't follow links). Full disclosure: I have no experience with copyright law or gaming mods, just applying common sense to the lack of precedents for someone getting sued for the multiple mods out there.

Kind of a moot point via no one has the time or energy to do this.

It's not because they don't sue mod X that they cannot sue mod Y. However them suing mod X or Y relies on the fact that they are aware of the infringement. Of course they can decide not to pursue legal action even if they are aware. This means of course that an FAF mod is unlikely to be sued however creating it is still a copyright infringement. There's plenty of mods based on popular IP by various companies that have been shut down. I can't recall any specific examples of mods being shut down at the top of my head however EA for example is notorious for sending out Cease and Desist letters to modders using their IP.

Of course the details depend on the country who's copyright law you'd fall under or if there are any international agreements between the state of infringement and the state where the copyright exists.

We go out of our way not to step on anyone's toes legally, to the point of even removing mods that include SupCom 2 units. I am 100% sure that we would not host a star wars mod unless someone can manage to get in writing all the legal permissions they need in addition to making the mod.

I take it copyright law isn't your professional or academic background. There are plenty of Star Wars mods out there, a cursory search on Google tells me there's a big one on Minecraft and Total Annihilation had one too. I'm sure there's plenty more, and lots of other precedents that haven't gone to court. Given the comparatively tiny community and non-profit nature of a FAF mod I suspect it's not an issue.

well I know that we have a bunch of SW mods, but for a RTS... a recent RTS, we don't have one... But we have SupCom FA, the best RTS in the world!
we just need to work a bit, and we will have a decent mod!
