Pretty new to modding anything outside of bp's here, though I've been making unit bp and script changes for ages.

The registrations for GPG forums are not working (won't send activation emails) so I can't use what appears to be a really helpful community there. Since this is one the most active communities of FA currently, I was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion of other forum(s) that might be appropriate to ask questions.

I would ask here but the one I have now is not FAF and I would like to mod both FAF and 3599, so it left a little inappropriate in the modding forum here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

For anyone curious about the question;
I am trying to learn by emulating existing mods on my own so that I can fall back to the existing code to figure out why mine doesn't work, it's been a very effective learning tool to get my head around whats possible.

At the moment I'm trying to re-create FunkOff's wrecks in water (as I said learning tool, no intention to distribute) but I'm getting stuck on hover units. With the help of the 3599 shipwrecks mod I can understand how ships/subs are working but with only the FAF lua as a guide to the hover units I'm getting what I have to assume is compatibility issues (since I resorted to a copy-paste of the code from the FAF lua to check if it worked). So far, basing on 'what' the FAF code does but using the 'how' of the older 3599 shipwrecks all I'm getting is a delay between the death explosion and unit disappearing.

The biggest breakthrough was "yay, a pause, my code is in the right place" :(
