Interesting idea but not anything that's going to put a dent in supp comm

Maybe placing all our RTS hopes on his lonesome shoulders is actually not worthwhile.

Certainly I get there feeling CT is not interested or has no expertise in competitive game balance. He just likes cool stuff and explosions.

with a well-known industry veteran like chris taylor at the top, this new studio will probably have an easy time getting lots of backers on whatever project they throw on kickstarter.

Chris Taylor already kickstartered a project, which failed to get funding. This project wasn't for RTS though, which probably was the main mistake. He should have tried to get funding for TA/Supcom like game, I think. Some of the most successful projects on Kickstarter seem to be for games that get inspiration from old and popular titles, for example Pillars of Eternity - which targeted Baldur's Gate fans.

"Indie game development" does not really give me hope as an RTS game like supp comm requires a lot of talent and $

these days, some indie studios (and some not-so-indie studios too) can get access to large scale finance via crowdfunding. with a well-known industry veteran like chris taylor at the top, this new studio will probably have an easy time getting lots of backers on whatever project they throw on kickstarter.

It sounds like he's ready to just do some small, fun stuff to keep afloat and does not want to spend time and stress to develop something like supp comm, tho.
