Problem is, the amount of data is HUGE and I don't exactly understand how it maps to the directories in faforever.faf

No. (sorry, 3603 is the number I meant when I wrote 3605)

You get the SAME desync if someone plays with 3599 FAF vs 3603 FAF (non-steam).

Interesting. God I wish I had a list of exactly what all the 3603 patch changed and where (what files) it changed it in.

It's 3599 and 3603 (which 'is' Steam, but 'is' SupCom, too).

So FAF seems to be missing one or more files from 3605 vs. 3599. I'll make a list.

And these are the new steam lobby:
\lua\ui\lobby\gamecreate.lua
\lua\ui\lobby\gameselect.lua
\lua\ui\lobby\lobby.lua
\lua\ui\lobby\lobbyComm.lua

They do have some network stuff in them though.

So it's MOST LIKELY the executables....

Are you comparing Steam to 3603 ? Or 3599 instead...? I did the same mistake first.

There are no detectable differences in units.scd

In fact, in Lua.scd, the only changes are in the localization and menu files, so it says steam and not gpgnet.

I'll run FAsteam with an FAFbin directory that's from FAretail.

If I still get desyncs, then the issue is indeed in gamedata. If I don't, the issue is in the binaries (much easier to fix)

Any ideas?

Obviously you should be comparing steam and non-steam installs of FA, including the individuals files in the .scd directories. Then see if any of those files listed is not in faforever.faf.
