There will be a new version of the installer fixing all these issues.

Same : erase labwars.faf to force the redownload of the .lua.

jup this works! Thanks a lot for all the support.

Next step: get into the beta of The Nomads :) Do you know where I can sign up?

Perhaps a tip for you (and/or the other developers): make de-installing the lobby/FAF, automatically remove all these kind of .faf files; now it requires a lot of your time to help people like me, who have absolutely no knowledge about removing some specific files, before the stuff works.

Again: thanks a lot! don't forget the nomads question :)

However: I can't download the correct .lua files now, in the 'Featured Mods' tab. For instance when I click 'labwars', I get the message that I miss the labwars.lua file. This is correct: I don't have it. But how to get it???

Failed to setup initial search path.

I will be interested to see that file, can you upload it on rapidshare or something ?

So erase that file (in gamedata), it will force it to redownload.

I tried removing the entire binFAF directory, and then try to host a game. Then I get the popup where I can click 'Update FA'. That also creates the binFAF dir, but again the small window 'Updating FA' doesn't close.

And hosting the game still fails :(

Try the new installer, somewhere here.

And where can I find the new installer? When I use the official site (which should point to the correct installer?) it should work right? This is the link I used: http://www.faforever.com/?page_id=2 ---> http://www.faforever.com/faf/FAForeverLobby.msi

edit: thanks for the EXTREME fast reply :)

edit2: you mean this one? viewtopic.php?f=3&t=442

Here is my issue:

I installed the FAF lobby by putting the faLobby.lib file in C:\Forged Alliance Forever - Lobby\
Then I executed FAFinstaller.exe (as administrator). That seems to work: after that I get a binFAF folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance

Then I start FaLobby.exe in C:\Forged Alliance Forever - Lobby (also as administrator).
The lobby opens just fine. However I can't join or host a game. I have the latest version of Forged Alliance (1.5.3599). I'm running windows 7, 64bit.

This is what happens when I try to host a new game in FAF Lobby:
In the lobby I go to 'Custom Games', and click 'Host new Game'. Then it opens a new screen: http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/134/ ... stgame.jpg

Then I click 'Update FA'. The result is the following: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/3702 ... fterup.jpg

The screen 'FAFinstaller' never closes, so eventually I close it manually (by clicking the red cross in the upper right corner).

However, after that I still have the small window 'Updating FA' saying: "This windows will not close until FAFinstaller has completed correctly".

I can close that window manually (alt+F4), but no game is hosted.

I have the exact same issue when in FAF lobby I go to tab 'Featured Mods' and click any of the options there (murder party, labwars or the nomads). When I for instance click on 'the nomads' I get the following screen (after again clicking on 'Update FA': http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/4624/nomads.jpg

I remember that when I clicked 'the nomads' the first time, there was another button below 'Update FA', with something like 'update the nomads'. When I clicked that, that resulted in a new file NomadsDataPath.lua in my binFAF folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\binFAF

I have tried several things, like removing the binFAF folder and removing the entire folder C:\Forged Alliance Forever - Lobby, and re-starting the procedure as described on http://www.faforever.com/?page_id=2

I have no clue what can be the issue.. I don't think it has got anything to do with router-ports, since as you can see in the screenshots, updating FA works.

Any help is appreciated!
