Keeps happening on and off but I can definitely tell it is caused by a spike in fa activity: selecting all my engineers on the map with the range rings on, all units of one player being transferred over to another, when it happens at a bad time where the processor was hard at work on calculations from the game already, I guess it can't catch up and feels it's too late and crashes.

I'll test under Ubuntu, see what it does.

Big question, is core maximiser still compatible?? all these changes being made to the game and core maximize has no new versions.

So maps are probably clean :p

Since I'm running win8, i'm assuming the drivers aren't ready yet, graphics wise, it should be good, I got a win8-specific driver from guru3d, audio wise, I've decided to set aside my ASUS xonar dg for a bit (until I get Ubuntu up and going) since asus does not distribute win 8 drivers for that card yet and I have to force install on a win7 one. The onboard audio, is on the other hand activated by a win8 driver upon boot so it works.

my surround sound hasn't arrived yet but when I get it, that xonar is definitely going back in.

Hope this is over and that no more crashes will occur.

the only other apps I used during crashed games were Grooveshark.exe, WMP, core temp, core temp gadget

I dunno what to think of this, should I deduce one of these programs causes the crash? I'd then say the buy order of probability it be 1 grooveshark.exe, 2 coretemp, 3 core temp gadget, 4 WMP.

I'll test again separately tomorow
