try ctrl+alt+del, switch user then resume user session. usually gets rid of the black screen.

HELP, game suddenly crashes

Whilst playing, at some particular point in time, usually about 10-15 minutes in the game just locks up, the image starts 'vibrating' to and fro, and pretty much just dies. If I alt tab out and go back in its nothing but a black screen. Task manager shows the program as running, killing the application works instantly.

I double checked and currently have the steam version 1.6.6, and I don't know what to do. its cost me a couple of good games already.
