a few days ago I've started to encounter a very strange, probably GPU-related issue while playing FA. Simply said, the game along with the whole system will randomly crash, resulting in a green screen with solid stripes on it and sounds "freezed" as well. Everything goes completely unresponsive, the only thing I can do is to hard reset the machine.
The first thing I could think of was that my GPU is on its way to the underworld, but the issue seems to be only FA(F)-related. There is nothing I can think of that could cause it on the software side - no bigger system updates, no new graphic drivers, even no new/changed hardware components.
Nevertheless, I tried to revert graphic drivers to two different older versions - didn't help. I monitored voltage, power, fan speed, core/memory clock - everything seems to be smooth and stable even just a moment before the crash. I checked system logs using Windows' Event Viewer, there seems to be nothing relevant as well. Anything I've tried, the game still gets crashed at some point - sometimes it crashes literally few minutes after the game started, sometimes I can play three or four games in a row without any problem, then it crashes like one hour into another game. I'd like to emphasize one more time that this seems to be just FA-related issue, it never happens in any other game, much newer and much more resources demanding titles including.
It just seems to me that the game somehow corrupts GPU memory at some point, but I'm really not an expert into these things, that's really just my guess. It drives me crazy that I cannot find out what's the problem, but even more I feel very bad to ruin other players' experience, since I was playing this game for years and never had any problem with it (however, I don't know how else I could try if the issue got fixed besides playing the game). The last idea I have is to try to underclock my GPU (it's not overclocked and never was) and see if that doesn't help, but this is really a desperate attempt since overheating or any related problem doesn't see to be the cause, as I have written.
Last time it happened to me yesterday evening, being circa an hour into a 6v6 game. forever.log doesn't contain anything related to this game, I'm attaching the game.log. I didn't touch the game since then since I hate to be the one who's ruining the game for the others - my apologize here to everybody I couldn't reach using IRC messages.
