I recommend checking the "Server" tab in the chat section.
If you notice "[ping: None->irc.faforever.com]irc.faforever.com" then you may have to restart FAF to join/host a game or receive IRC messages.

like 80% of the time the client won't launch faf when i try to host a game, it usually resolves itself with numerous restart, but that gets quite tiring.
if anybody can find something in my logs that might explain this I'd be deeply grateful.
also in this log the first 2 attempts of launching the game is unsuccessful, and after third restart it works, im not getting any error message or anything, client doesn't crash. it just pops up with the updating game data thing and then nothing.
