to create a .bat file, open notepad or editor in windows and copy and paste the text from the pastebin files at the bottom. after that save the file as "YOURNAME.bat" without a .txt ending.

here is the content for starting core maximizer and the lobby:
http://pastebin.com/XiSBCrXN

here is the content for starting forged alliance (not vanilla version) and core maximizer:
http://pastebin.com/RC6sz4Vj

after you have created the .bat file you want to start it instead of the lobby or FA exe file which you ordinarily use.

note: this is done with windows 7 64bit and FAF is installed in the standard directory. if you have a different system your paths will be different. please adjust them in the source code of your .bat file(s) accordingly.

greetings,
eX

p.s.: now i have found a way to MAYBE increase simspeed on computers with just one core, too. just look it up here:
http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39740#
i have tested it with the ForgedAlliance.exe from FAF and it works for OFFLINE games...not for online games with the lobby though!

That said, desynchs are bad. I don't imagine you have a better solution for him Zep?

but i hope to already help people who would like to play FA with core maximizer with this thread. here they can read my description of how to use it.

@all:
i am not sure about the simspeed and core maximizer. i have not tested it yet. it is easy to do by entering "ren_shownetworkstats" into the console.

the biggest advantage of core maximizer is that the fps are much better in late game. i can see that in task manager that without core maximizer only one core is used 100% all the time and the others rarly. with core maximizer two cores are used about 70% and the others rarly. this results in the mentioned fps advantage.

eX

Do that and just set the file init_faf.lua as read only.

That said, I have no idea of how to use it with FAF.

this is my first post in the forum, but i have already read alot. now it is time to write something myself.

with 3599 i have always used core maximizer to play FA. i have a laptop with 4 cores (but every core has only 1.6 ghz), so i really notice a difference playing with/without core maximizer.

therefore i tried to get it running with FAF. i modified the C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\init_faf.lua (in win7) file by inserting "os.execute("start cmax.exe") " to the end of the file and saving it.

when i launched ForgedAlliance.exe in the same folder, core maximizer ran too!
i was really pleased with the result.

but when i started FAF, it updated the .lua file and erased the extra line, thus core maximizer was not launched anymore.

my question is now, whether core maximizer is only turned off, because of beta testing ?

the best solution would be to make an option in the final version of FAF to play with/without core maximizer or at least not update the .lua file if it was edited.

until now, it only works if i start cmax.exe manually before i launch FAF or ForgedAlliance.exe.
a comfortable way is to start cmax.exe with windows by putting a link of it in the autostart folder.

greetings,
eX
