To Leo: This'll take a lot of time to sift through all the .lua files.
I tried deleting everything again and just installing it into a new Folder called "Apsalars Alternative" and am still receiving the error. So I'm looking through every individual file related to SupCom and FAF for any path files still pointing to Apsalar's.

I will post an update once I've gone through everything I can find.

Thank you both

EDIT: I was about to say that I still couldn't get it working, and then...
I searched around, AppData\Roaming, found something... because every time I changed the path for, what I now know as the, co-op path... it would revert back to the Apsalar's Stuff file path regardless of the change. Changed both, saved both, launched FAF and couldn't see anything back an empty FAF Launcher layout. Continued sifting for SOMETHING that went wrong. About 10minutes later it pops up.

Perfect time to have a connection issue huh lol

Either way, I launched FAF, Nomads, Vanilla, and Xtreme Wars all successfully now.

So, lesson learned... in the future with new computers and anytime I reformat this this/the HDD... DO NOT PUT AN APOSTROPHE IN THE FOLDER NAME!!
Probably should have known from the programming point of view >.>

What started as one issue quickly became a 2nd issue.

To BestSantaEU: Things finally started working before I read your suggestion. Thanks for the suggestion, if things revert to the old file path again I'll quickly look there. Though I don't like to mess with Regirstries if I can avoid it. (Also I should considered looking for a program like that.)

Thank you greatly, Leo, Sheeo, and Yorick

i wasn't clear enouth... u have to change your "Apsalar's Stuff" from all config files.... there must be NO apostrophe... anywhere...

then u'll ask where else it is... well i dont know...

maybe ur user have other symbols... faf store mods and replayes on :

C:\Users\USER\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods

maybe u have

E:\Apsalar's Stuff\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods

that will cause the same issue.

now u ask why i am so sure this issue is coused by this apostrophe?

well i changed MY own faf to :

fa_path = 'd:\\leos's stuff\\steam\\SteamApps\\common\\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance'

see??

now look my issue:

Failed to setup initial search path.

Program : C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe

It still keeps saying I have a duplicate of the init_faf.lua, but I've checked and rechecked constantly. I've searched for a 2nd FAForever folder just in case and nothing.

Each time it seems to have an issue with setting up the initial Search Path...
It's mentioning the Unknown symbol still... I'll try and remove the Hyphen next and see if that helps.
I don't know what it means by "Expected near 'Stuff'"
And of course there's the duplicate files that don't seem to exist.

Making a different attempt.

EDIT: Remove the Hyphens did nothing. Also attempted to join a random game to see if I just could not run a lobby, also can't do that.

I was just trying to make things solidly clear at that point.
I had spent a lot of time trying to get this working, wonderful game with FAF as you well know I am sure.
Yes, Sheeo most certainly fixed the issue, but my system was still having some sort of problem. That is why I suggested their may have been another thing going on, on my end.
I'm sure you can understand that dismissing the issue as solved while I was having an issue wasn't exactly helpful.
And yes, of course, no rage. Like I said, I just made sure that there was no more pussyfooting around.

I followed your steps verbatim, alas no results.
I'm going to delete everything related to SupCom and start fresh. (Still on my E Drive.)
If that doesn't work out, I'll start another thread this time.

Thanks for the suggestion mate
~Ran

So... in the new FAF lobby version 0.11.44 that issue SHOULD be fixed... actualy we have feed back from lots of players who have it working now.

Try this:

1 - Delete your "C:\ProgramData\FAForever" folder.

2 - open FAF lobby (make sure ur running version 0.11.44 (so far)) , go to :
Options > Settings > Game Path... and even if your game path is there, set it up again. ( selecting Browse, then Select your game folder).

3 - Host a game... FAF lobby will download all update files again... that SHOULD fix.

if this don't solve you don't have to create another thread... post here too... no rage dude... =)

Hope i've helped GL

I'll just open a second thread stating I am having these issue. I'll also just copy paste what I already said here... cuz, you know... I have the exact same issue still.

So Leo, would you kindly stop jumping the gun here. If you are not having a similar issue, and have nothing conducive to add to this issue then you have no reason to post that.

Thank you Sheeo, sadly the fix hasn't helped me. Though my friend is capable of playing from what I hear.

After the update hit, I attempted to run FAF, Open a Lobby, and play. I believe it was the same error as previously mentioned in my posts.
Riddle78 has informed me that restarting his computer had helped. (Some sort of issue with Total Annihilation Escalation was interfering with his game)
I had decided to restart and see if that would help me.

I open up FAF and end of with the same issue again.

I delete FAF, reinstall FAF from a fresh FAF.msi download.
Run a Lobby and receive the following Error.

Code:
Failed to setup initial search path.

Program : C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe
Cmd line arguments : /mean 1500.0 /deviation 500.0 /init init_faf.lua /numgames 0 /nobugreport /savereplay gpgnet://localhost/4397393/Ranmyakki.SCFAreplay /gpgnet 127.0.0.1:53728

         stack traceback:
            [C]: in function `dofile'
            C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\init_faf.lua(2): in main chunk

Please advise if there is anything else I can provide that may help clarify what is going on.
PS. I did not do any manual fix attempt this time and the ProgramData folder for FAF still doesnt actually show any duplicate files.

EDIT: I also made sure to manually delete any files/folders that did not get removed through "Add/Remove"

Thank you,
~Ran

Thanks for the update, and unfortunately I must say that it hasn't helped me out.

I'm going to explain how I have my SupCom, SupComFA, and FAF installed... perhaps I have an issue along those lines.
(Also note that I did delete my attempt to manually fix this with Leo's suggestion, thanks for that by the way it was definitely worth the attempt, and continued to receive issues)

Code:
Failed to setup initial search path.

Program : C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe
Cmd line arguments : /mean 1500.0 /deviation 500.0 /init init_faf.lua /numgames 0 /nobugreport /savereplay gpgnet://localhost/4397323/Ranmyakki.SCFAreplay /gpgnet 127.0.0.1:56703

            [C]: in function `dofile'
            C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\init_faf.lua(2): in main chunk

Now onto how I installed all of SupCom.

I have an SSD where I run my OS, and a separate HDD running all my games.
So to put it plainly.
    E:\Apsalar's Stuff\Games\Supreme Commander\Supreme Commander
    E:\Apsalar's Stuff\Games\Supreme Commander\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance
    E:\Apsalar's Stuff\Games\Supreme Commander\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance Forever (Beta)
PS: Ignore the "(Beta)", I am not using Beta, that was a misunderstanding on my part.

SupCom was installed using the CD's and their appropriate CD Keys as well.
C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin
That is still there as per usual.

Is there anything else that I could provide that may help out here??

EDIT: Hold up, Riddle78 has informed me that it worked after a quick restart. I'll try that again.

Alright,Leo. I did it again, just to humour you. Here's the point-by-point breakdown of what I did. I'm also including the log,and a screenshot of the folder in question, just to show you that I'm not blowing smoke.

1) Navigate to vanilla FA install directory.
2) Ctrl+C the contents of the bin folder.
3) Ctrl+V in the empty bin folder in the FAF ProgramData folder.
4) Ctrl+C the seven files from the FAF ProgramData lua directory. All seven files are marked with a padlock.
5) Ctrl+V the files in the FAF ProgramData bin directory. Two files are identically named. I select "Copy and replace" for both.

Here's the error I got when I tried to make an Xtreme Wars lobby for myself. It should be noted that FAF threw an unable to form Direct3D error at me; I think this might have something to do with me playing Total Annihilation earlier.

Code:
Failed to setup initial search path.

Program : C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe
Cmd line arguments : /mean 1500.0 /deviation 500.0 /init init_xtremewars.lua /numgames 0 /nobugreport /savereplay gpgnet://localhost/4397237/Riddle78.SCFAreplay /gpgnet 127.0.0.1:59169

Callstack:
   Unknown symbol (address 0x008cef50)

Last 100 lines of log...

warning: Can't open lua file "C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\init_xtremewars.lua"

And here's an image of my folder. Just like Ran,there's no copies to be found. The three files below SupremeCommander.exe are sx32w.dll,wsmxw24u-vs80.dll,and zlibwapi.dll.

If that don't work, here's the link.
