Yeah well I thought it was polite to mention my mistake.

Yes, that's the location I installed FA in. Keeping games out of Program Files solves some problems and helps manage things better.

I've changed up some permissions and it seems to have helped, I can launch FA now - cheers for the help.

Dude we red your log file... we are aware of that... on your log file the problem is:

2015-10-24 19:35:35,466 ERROR faf.client FA has failed to start

but above that line we can see that faf client downloaded all update files correctly...
I think ... in my arrogant opinion... that you should try to run both FA and FAF client as ADM...
Also try to launch the game from the update files that faf client downloaded for you. they are located here:

C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe

You should verify if game path is right, because your log file says it is in:

C:\GameData\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance

Very weird location... did you created a directory named GameData for your installed games? is it correct?

I only just noticed that I made a huge, big, huge mistake with this post.

I didn't mean FA Forever itself is failing to launch, I can launch the client fine.

But when I try to host a game I get the message 'FA has failed to launch'.

Being this big of a space cadet :/

exactly... look for c:\programdata\faforever\bin\forgedalliance.exe... try to run... see if game works... and set this one and faf to run as adm... give it a try...

Like Leo has said, I think this sounds like a problem with file permissions. Unfortunately I don't know how exactly FAF works when it comes to launching FA, but maybe you could try looking at the permissions for your user account in the file properties window of the "C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe" that FAF is failing to launch.

It can screw up the right on files and then it might not launch or update.
FAF is fully working without launching as admin, it can bring only harm

FAF is downloading update files, but its not lauching... weird.. maybe try to run faf as administrator...

Have you checked if FAF has the correct path to the Forged Alliance directory in "Settings" -> "Game Path..." ?
