Does anyone have anything they think should change or be added that would motivate people to play again?

From this post it sounds like most people like it, so not sure what is up.

I really would advise against using me as an example for the WWPC effectiveness. As Kalvirox and several others know I'm 30 years old, have a big life outside of this game, and more oft than not I am in dead zones of activity where I don't get to play much. You simply cannot do that and expect to advance in this game.

My situation at current has stabilized a lot better so I will be aggressively re-learning my tactics as time goes forward. My 1v1 ladder was at 1501 before I left for nearly 3 months and has dropped to ~1400 since I've lost touch with a few things; further, there have been refinements in strategy since. My global rating (1v1s against people and tournaments) has been holding steady as I usually take that more seriously.

As we all know the 1v1 ladder is getting updated soon and you won't see as many cheesy 5x5 maps nor the repetition that can occur. I've personally been stuck on Ambush Pass or Blasted Rock (two of my worst maps) this past few weeks and I'm incredibly happy that it is going to be changed over.

Overall it sounds like the WWPC is doing a fine job and we'll make tweaks here and there to make it better. The two-week segment has been greatly appreciated - especially to the Oceania timezones that are nearly impossible to align with!!

Thanks everyone,

Morax

1) Three players believe that development through playing the ladder and with higher-rated
players led to better performance gains over the WWPC. Of note is that this is all from the U1500

2) Tournament is focused on developing strategies beforehand and watching the replays of
opponents (including the champion) to gain an advantage.

3) Some people are stuck in a division and have not improved much.

4) At least five players have moved through U1100/U1500 up to U1900 level since the start of
their WWPC involvement.

5) Most people appreciate the lessons that have been learned through competition-driven games and
feel they have developed further whether they are they "champion" or not.

I like the challenge WWPC is offering, and it will lead me to play ladder in a few times.. Hopefully after training a while I could join U1500 part or grab Petric title :
Good vibes between players and nice follow up by TDs.

And also I love that badass avatar  (because it's my only lonely one ^^ )

WWPC is different to ladder because you can prepare for the map and prepare for the player. If that's what you like then WWPC is awesome.

I think any skill increase of mine mainly comes from Zock lessons and playing tonnes of ladder. However, by practicing for WWPC I spent a lot of time focusing on specific maps which to be honest is something I otherwise never did. That also led to me refining build orders over and over... the way I build now is completely different to how it used to be.

manread's point of view would be interesting - if I remember rightly my first WWPC game was against him, for the very first U1100 final, which I won in 3 pretty quick games. Now he's got a mortgage on the U1500 title and I have only qualified for one final, which I lost in 4 horribly quick games against SilverKronos, since the tournament went fortnightly and I started playing again. I dunno if that's from his Kalvirox lessons or WWPC activity.

I held the title for only 1 week before yorick beat me in a Bo5 for it, and then had pretty epic games with SilverKronos in a Bo5 as well as on Syrtis knockouts. All of these replays were watched to see what was done wrong, and the improving continued even more.

WWPC is a place where if you put in work, you will get results. Even if you don't get that awesome, sexy avatar, you will still only be able to get better from the games you play. I will put emphasis on the fact that if you play the ladder AND you play WWPC, you will greatly improve and have much more fun in the game.
