run faf with strace: http://www.drmemory.org/strace_for_windows.html
and post the output.

You should never launch faf with admin rights. You basically need to remove every trace of faf that could have been written with admin

I deleted everything.. FAF and SupCom off of my computer.. did a recovery... reinstalled both FAF and SupCom... still getting the same error...

Is there anything else I could do?

You can also try to install FAF in another directory, like "C:\games\Forged Alliance Forever". I have found Windows to be touchy in late version with files created in Program Files.

As it seems to be a simple log file, have you tried to move this file on your desktop or anywhere else to save it. But more importantly in doing so deleting it from the Forged Alliance Forever directory.
Then launch the game as a simple user. The game should recreate the file.

I get this:

The logfile 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Forged Alliance Forever\FAForever.exe.log' could not be opened: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Forged Alliance Forever\\FAForever.exe.log'

Have no idea what it is...

Googled it and it has something to do with FreeImage.dll... but I'm not a very tech savvy person so no idea how to correct it...

Any help would be appreciated... thanks
